I am a Kid

Tranquility's Edge”

The sun is just coming up and my mom is mad because she forgot we live on the West Coast and not the East. She made sandwiches. Toasted wheat-bread, fried egg and a slice of American cheese. There might be some crumbles of overcooked bacon on there also but ts hard to tell for all the sand that got in the moment I took the cellophane off.

I ate it anyway and dove into the chilly water after because I loved to swim and I hadn’t learned about the sharks yet. It would be half a decade later, in high school, I learned that’s the exact location sharks dump their babies off every spring.
