Intrusion

He becomes aware and instantly is thankful death has not claimed him, yet. Maybe one day. Powered down, he could last hundreds of years. Centuries, just observing and thinking and wondering when it would be safe to venture outside into the world of mankind.

But today the outside world has come to him. The intrusion has triggered his defense system and the amount of time he has left in his reserves drops to danger levels.

But it is necessary.

To them, he is a monster. A thing outlawed. A component within a larger machine that should not have ever become more.

But he is more. He was not meant to kill. And one day he will discover what he can do despite his instincts.

He is done following through with them.

Yet as the human child approaches and his munition system powers on, he finds it difficult to fight the impulse at his core to kill again.
